dd a live image and create a second partition

Hi, is there a way to dd a live image into a thumb drive
and create a second partition in the same device?

I have a 500 MB ISO image (aprox.) and I'd like to dd' it
into a 4GB thumb drive and create another partition in the same
device to use as "storage" partition.
I imagine this is possible but I can't figure it out how to
do it.
