Another thing I forgot, in /usr/share/live  the lb_binary script also comment on:

 # lb binary_grub $ {*}

We in Musix, with d-i custom, we work right the usb-hdd mode installation. Just had to incorporate the grub2 in the package list.

fyi: since d-i is broken on usb-hdd images (see #608201), there will be
no usb-hdd images for squeeze.
