lh_build fails for usb-hdd unable to find chroot/bin/hostname.orig

Folks,

I've been working with a build targeting a CF flash card for some time, but
yesterday, the build failed. It was working as recently as two weeks ago.
The odd thing is, if I build for an iso image, I don't have the problem. The
build system is an a current patched Lenny system.

The lh_config line is:
lh_config -a i386 -b usb-hdd -p standard --categories "main contrib non-free" -
m http://192.168.1.2/debian--packages "wireless-tools ssh less bzip2 module-
assistant debhelper bridge-utils dnsmasq hal fgetty apache2 tomcat5.5"

And it consistently fails at:

Get:1 http://security.debian.org lenny/updates Release.gpg [1032B]
Get:2 http://ftp.us.debian.org lenny Release.gpg [1032B]
Get:3 http://security.debian.org lenny/updates Release [40.8kB]

Thanks in advance for your help.

'achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done
the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others, and that's nice,
too, but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget
about success.'
