flickering screen

~
 My screen flickrs and I thought it was somehow related to the use of
a KVM switch, but after connecting the vga cable directly to the
monitor, the flickering does not go away. This is what I got:
~
 debian:/media/hdb3/xvicap/xvidcap-1.1.7# dmesg | grep -i debian
 [    0.000000] Linux version 2.6.26-1-686 (Debian 2.6.26-13)
(waldi@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080704 (prerelease) (Debian
4.1.2-24)) #1 SMP Sat Jan 10 18:29:31 UTC 2009
~
 debian:/media/hdb3/tmp# dmesg | grep -i video
 [    1.122264] pci 0000:01:00.0: Boot video device
~
 debian:/media/hdb3/tmp# dmesg | grep -i agp
 [   18.353819] Linux agpgart interface v0.103
 [   18.870731] agpgart: Detected SiS chipset - id:1634
 [   18.878732] agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xf8000000
~
 debian:/media/hdb3/tmp# lspci | grep -i display
 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]
661/741/760 PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter (rev 04)
~
  and these are the start up options passed to the kernel:
~
 debian:/media/hdb3/xvicap/xvidcap-1.1.7# dmesg | grep -i live
 [    0.000000] Kernel command line: initrd=/live/initrd1.img
boot=live union=aufs bootfrom=/dev/hdb4 BOOT_IMAGE=/live/vmlinuz1

 I don't have this problem when I use knoppix:
~
 sh-3.1# dmesg | grep "Linux version"
 Linux version 2.6.19 (root@Knoppix) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061028
(prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-19)) #7 SMP PREEMPT Sun Dec 17 22:01:07 CET
2006
~
 sh-3.1# lspci | grep -i display
 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]
661/741/760/761 PCI/AGP VGA Display Adapter (rev 04)
~
 and this is how I started knoppix:
~
 sh-3.1# dmesg | grep command
 Kernel command line: ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us
apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=minirt.gz nomce loglevel=0 quiet
BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix BOOT_IMAGE=linux init 2
~

 How can I fix this flickering?
~
 Thanks
