I've run some of the live iso's on virtualbox. I've tried the standard, xfce, and kde images. The VM has a single network interface. On each iso, this interface, eth0, is renamed to eth1 by udev. For the standard and xfce images, this means that there is no ethernet network. On the kde image, it seems the network manager automatically configures the interface as eth1. One the standard and xfce images, you have to add eth1 to the /etc/network/interfaces file and ifup eth1 to get the network going. This line occurs with each image. [ 90.769368] udev: renamed network interface eth0 to eth1 -- Thanks: Joseph Rawson
