No, that (suck error message) is from the kernel preinst regarding
some debconf prompt.  It's not clear to me what the cause or right
solution is (preseeding, setting environment variables, ...).  Are you
running 2.6.22-6-386 on the host (build) system?  If that's the source
of the problem, then d-l should avoid this error.  If the problem has
to do with reinstalling the kernel package version/instance within the
chroot, then I guess d-l should avoid that error too.
