Hi,
We had a similar problem in PAIPIX.
Apache2 uses an optimized sendfile approach that does not work using a
filesystem over UNIONFS.
This can be fixed by adding to /etc/apache2/apache2.conf the statment:
EnableSendfile off
for example after the line:
ServerRoot "/etc/apache2"
