Atm, Debian does not provide binary module packages for the atheros
driver (madwifi). I plan to add this with linux-modules-nonfree-2.6
which is sitting in NEW.
This means, that the /default/ images do not contain the madwifi driver
yet. But you can always create an image yourself and include it.
