Really? I can easily imagine it like this:
== user opens terminal ==
$ make-live
Make-live needs to be run as root. Enter the root password:
<password>
================================
What sort of interface do you want on your live CD?
[X] Graphical
[ ] Text-mode only
================================
Which desktop environment do you want?
[X] KDE
[ ] GNOME
[ ] XFCE
================================
etc. etc. etc. Use a GTK or Qt interface and it would be even easier.
Adding this functionality to make-live is actually quite easy, as the
configuration program could just be, say, a simple python script in
the lists directory.
It would add a fair bit of functionality very easily - anyone would be
able to make a near Knoppix-like CD - the config script could ask them
about desktop backgrounds, bootsplash, menu editing, etc. to get
really complex.
