Bug#1004234: docs: give advice how to debug overrides

Package: lintian
Version: 2.114.0
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I find myself frequently in the position that I am trying to override a
lintian warning or a lintian error but have to experiment a bit until I
get it right. This might be my personal problem, or lintian sometimes
behaves erratically.

In any case, the turnaround time of such experiments is displeasingly
long since a full packaege build is required.

It would be nice to have a debugging possibility, for example by having
a command line option --extra-override-file that could be used to point
lintian to a file that can be quickly changed. Or, in the "invoke from
an unpacked package dir" case, an option --use-unpacked-overrides can be
used to tell lintian to directly read the overrides from the unpacked
package dir that can also be changed more quickly.

Thanks for providing lintian, and thanks for trying to make override
file writing a lesser pain in the ass ;-)

Greetings
Marc
