It never felt so wrong to merge two bugs, but they are now the same. I
supported your request in the cloned policy bug #953629 and got you
another +1. For now, I will reduce the tag's severity to a warning
like you asked.
Lintian is not a good vehicle for policy changes, and you were unaware
when filing that policy stood in the way. Please contact us again when
the policy changes (or if you require additional support in the
matter). I cannot wait to implement your request.
