- Subject: lintian: More accurate description for tag postinst-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig
- From: Rafael Laboissiere <rafael@laboissiere.net>

Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.39.1
Severity: normal
In the description of tag postinst-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig it is
stated that "[t]he postinst script calls ldconfig […]". I ran into a
case where ldconfig is actually called in the triggers script and the
above tag is issued. It took me a while to figure out where the
problem came from.
Could you please update the description of the tag, stating something
like this:
The postinst or the triggers script calls ldconfig even though no
shared libraries are installed in a directory controlled by the
dynamic library loader.
By the way, it would be also good to change the tag itself to
something like "postinst-or-triggers-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig".
Thanks,
Rafael Laboissière
