Hi Simon,

The use of autodie is perfectly fine, just remember to add a "use
autodie;" in the top of the file.

IRT to using data files, have you read the tutorial[1]?  It is quite
likely that you are one of the first to read it.  If it is not helpful,
please let us know so we can improve it.
