verifies dashes that are prefixed by space, although that does not seem
to be specified that way anywhere.

for example, in :

" --version" only first dash would be reported
" --with-net-snmp" only first dash would be reported

and so on.

is the lintian check really correct ? if so, the documentation should
explicitly say that. if not, it should be fixed :)
