Package: lintian
Version: 1.20.17
Severity: wishlist

For background, see bug 142733.

Lintian should, for all .la files in the binary package, check if they
reference other .la files. If they do, the .la file must be found in
this package or in a package this package directly or indirectly depends
in.

Hi,

I am closing this very old "wontfix" bug. Unfortunately it is beyond
the scope of Lintian to do such a check. We do have a check for
non-empty dependency_libs now, which should hopefully lead to this being
redundant.

For now, please refer to [1], which links to a public regularly updated
data file that (to my knowledge) contains what you want to know.

~Niels
