IIRC, there already has been such request to lintian maintainers. However, as this new policy is not yet as strongly published as it should, they logically deferred the change. So, well, I would have no problem if this bug fix is delayed until we really publish the font packages policy (starting from what Rogério wrote and published in the mailing list a few weeks ago).
