It's the exit status of dpkg-source.  Beyond that, I don't know.  If the
unpack fails, it's normally a bug in dpkg-source unless Lintian is calling
it incorrectly.

The root problem here is that, when dpkg-source fails, Lintian is not
displaying its error output since it's capturing it for later processing.
I'll fix that in the next release of Lintian, so if this happens again
you'll be able to see the dpkg-source error.
