Agreed.

Yes, I think we may already have a bug open about this if dfsg is in the
version string. It's also a good idea. It's just a convention, not
policy, but it's a fairly persistant one.

I think encouraging it is a good idea, and I don't have a problem saying
in the lintian check that if it's not scriptable for some reason, they
should still provide a get-orig-source target that prints out an error and
then exits with status 2.
