That isn't what the patch that you included in your original bug report
checked for.  Your patch detected .be/ directories in binary packages, not
in the Debian diff of a non-native source package.  And it does work; it's
tested by the test suite, in fact.  I gather that you're requesting that
these directories also be detected in the Debian diff (and I see that your
original bug report was ambiguous; I just assumed that you meant only
binary packages since that's what the patch did).

Lintian has two ways of detecting and warning about such files: it can
warn about them only in the Debian diff, or it can warn about them in both
the Debian diff and in the upstream tarball.  Which is appropriate here?
Is it reasonable for upstream to include .be/ directories in their tarball
releases or would a Debian maintainer of such a package want to report an
upstream bug if one appeared?

Also, what about .ditrack directories, which were also mentioned in your
original bug report?  Should those also be checked in the Debian diff and
possiby the upstream tarball?
