Mmmmh, I am not sure.

GPLv2 clause 2a states:

|   a) You must cause the modified files to carry prominent notices
|   stating that you changed the files and the date of any change.

It does not require that you describe the "nature of the change", just
that "you changed the files and the date of any change", which could be
interpreted as satisfiable by a simple copyright notice update or
little more.

It seems to me that clause 4 of the CodeIgniter license is more
demanding...
