hello,
good news ! :-)
i asked the author, if he would like to change the licence and he will.
#############
...
"4. Integrity of The Author's Source Code
The license may restrict source-code from being distributed in modified form
_only_ if the license allows the distribution of "patch files" with the
source code for the purpose of modifying the program at build time. The
license must explicitly permit distribution of software built from modified
source code. The license may require derived works to carry a different name
or version number from the original software.
"
would you like to change the licence a little bit?
you can protect the integrity of your code, if you allow the patch-files!
in the end it is the same than subclassing it, but it is compatible with the
terms of "free open source software".
...
################################
that is what he says:
################################
I'm open to modifying the license to satisfy the open-source community as long
as I can continue to protect the integrity of the code base as I stated
earlier. I.e., as long as the politics doesn't interfere with the
engineering. Perhaps these "patch files" might be the answer. Could you
give a run-down on exactly what "patch files" are?
Also, if I decide to make a new license, I'd first want the open-source legal
experts to agree that the license is compatible. Otherwise, there would be
no point in releasing it. Please provide contact information for the Debian
license experts.
I'll also look into the zlib-licence you mentioned.
################################
my englisch is just ok, not good and i'm no jurist, so i ask:
is this a cabable definition of "patch-file"in thi case? :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patch_(Unix)
can yo please give me a hint, which licence might be the right one?
zlib licence?
thanks in advance
beste gruesse
