Fully agreed.

Actually, the two licenses you suggest are my favorite
recommendations too:

* the Expat (a.k.a. MIT) license
  http://www.jclark.com/xml/copying.txt

* the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2
  http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl.txt
