TeX Hyphenations

Hello!

As we all know, LPPL accepts if file distributed under LPPL has
additional requiries on use, modification and redistribution of
modified files.

So, as we see, not all files distributed under LPPL are DFSG
compatible.

Now, let's review licenses from TeX hyphenation files:

tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/cahyph.tex
% General permission for use and non-profit redistribution is granted.
% For special commercial use, contact the address above.
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/gahyph.tex
% Copyright 1998 by Emilio J. Pérez González. All rights reserved.
% Permission is granted for non-profit use and redistribution.
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/hyphen.tex
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/ushyph1.tex
% The Plain TeX hyphenation tables [NOT TO BE CHANGED IN ANY WAY!]
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/sehyph.tex
% Copyright 1994 by Jan Michael Rynning. All rights reserved.
% Permission is granted for non-profit use and redistribution.
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/shhyphl.tex
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/sihyph22.tex
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/ushyph2.tex
% General permission for use and non-profit redistribution is granted.
% For commercial use, contact the below address.
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/ruhyphen/ruhyphas.tex
% You can copy or distribute these patterns freely in unmodified form or
% you can change this file for local purposes. The only exception for
% distribution of a modified file is an encoding change. In this case
% please send reencoded file to me. You are not allowed any commercial
% use of these patterns whether or not they were modified.
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/ruhyphen/ruhyphzn.tex
% Use this file FREE not in commercial packages!. %
% NOT TO BE CHANGED IN ANY WAY! %

That's all. So we need to do one of two things: 1). talk to authors
2). move these files to tetex-non-free.

I'm much disappointed that tetex maintainers doesn't review the
licenses of the files. Possibly there are other files with non-free
licenses in TeTeX packages.

Yours.
