Many thanks!

I was further advised that making this an expiring dual-license (pure
GPL and an GPL+exception clause expiring some reasonable time in the
future) would help keep the license issue moving forward rather than
introducing a permanent workaround, thereby glossing over the problem
and giving the licensor an excuse to continue using the
non-GPL-compatible license. And that makes sense to me, so if I cannot
convince the licensor to change the license to more reasonable terms,
that will likely be the course of action I follow. I have been pointed
at the apt license as an example.

Regards,
Ben
