Just to recap: the wireless and the trackpad which didn't work on 7 work
just fine on 8; many thanks to whomever was responsible.

Didn't need it, it seems; I was trying to fix a problem with a missing
firmware message ("rtl_nic/rtl8411-2.fw") which I couldn't find; it
appears to be the card reader, but it seems to work anyway.
Only real problem so far is that the screen brightness is always flat out,
but that's hardly a show-stopper.
In short, no other problems (so far) on the Acer Aspire E15 with Debian
8.0.0, just the screen brightness is a niggle; the box is now no longer
potentially for sale :-)
Ohm and despite "nonfree" being in the APT file I cannot find
"firmware-linux-nonfree" (nor "linux-firmware-nonfree", just in case).
