Graphical display is black after upgrade from Debian 7 to 8

The system itself is working on my FujitsuSiemens laptop (via text console or ssh) but the graphical display is not anymore. It remains just black.
The output from grep "(EE)" Xorg.0.log is:
[    26.994] (EE) open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory
[    27.109] (EE) open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory
[    27.270] (EE) CHROME(0): [drm] Failed to open DRM device for pci:0000:01:00.0: No such file or directory
[    28.098] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
But dmesg | grep -e agp -e drm says:
 [    2.526544] Linux agpgart interface v0.103
[    2.526628] agpgart: Detected VIA P4M900 chipset
[    2.535112] agpgart-via 0000:00:00.0: AGP aperture is 128M @ 0xc0000000
I have no idea what has gone wrong. A laptop with only text mode is fairly useless.
