i am seeing a acpi related error message in System Log Viewer.

while in man acpi... and if do a call #acpi -d without the # the results show what would result if a person used option h or help.
looking at that info and going with what it shows:
-d --directory <dir> path to acpi info /sysclass resp. /proc/acpi
in /sys/class there is no acpi file or dir or any relations to resp.
there is population in /proc/acpi
looking at the term 'event handler' i see i may need to write a if/or script to check the state of device[s] . i have worked with some C and PHP/SQl and am venturing into BASH scripting.
I am comfortable with Boolean and logical if/or statements and conditional constructs.
Is there any reference or advice somewhere in using existing functions and or just what needs to be combed over.
is there any good advice where to begin.
i am in System/help docs going over every thing in there. and looking over the land scape to come to see what needs the first config and could imagine ignorance in friction with gnome system calls if i were to begin writing conditional scripts.
i was also in #gnome-control-center and it was having problems.
would it be okay to post a GNOME problem here in the laptop lists.
i did see a few lower case strings pointing to upper case vars and am beginning to assume i may need to assign values to System $VARS in the config of #gnome-control-center.
back in man acpi:
-d --directory <dir> path to acpi info /sys/class resp. /proc/acpi
if that is a directory call
to a optional address /proc/acpi while /sys/class=!
the short summarization in man pages is difficult for me at this time while i do not have the code skills of the programmers who are at the front lines.
