hibernation with new kernels

Hi all,

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop with Debian Lenny installed on it.  I
have regularly installed the updates.  I had no problem with hibernation
until the latest kernel updates were installed.  It works, but much slower
than before.  While hibernating/resuming, the screen goes completely
blank except for the cursor at the top left corner of the screen.  And
sometime during resume my laptop makes some noise which is weird and
irritating.  Can anyone tell me what can I do to remove that noise and
have faster hibernation/resumes like before?

Thanks for you help.

Nima
