Switch to 2.6 kernel, kernel 2.4 are deprecated

Seriously, which kernels versions? (see /var/log/dpkg.log to know the
previous linux-image version)
Where does that sound seems to come from: speaker, hard-disk,
network-adapter, fan, or else?
