Re: how do i package a downloaded program



Hi Darren,

You probably have the google earth software with the .bin extension. So, follow these steps to install it:

Turn the file executable with the command:
chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin

After this, use the ./ prefix before the package name to run it:
./GoogleEarthLinux.bin

In your OpenOffice CD, you should have the .deb files to install it. Simply open a terminal and go to the directory where the .deb files are and type:
dpkg -i *.deb

To install the OO suite.

i know synatic package manager but it does not want to install.
