This loads fine on my machine.

Hm, I seem to have a problem with asus-laptop:

modprobe asus-laptop
FATAL: Error inserting asus_laptop
(/lib/modules/2.6.24-1-686/kernel/drivers/misc/asus-laptop.ko): No such
device

Both the keys on the left of my Laptop as well as those next to the
power butten and the Fn+F10 to Fn+F12 do produce an event but with on
exeption do not work as the sould per my hotkey.sh script.
