I suspect that this will be independent from the laptop: as long as firewire
is properly supported (which it always has been for me), then the support
for your firewire soundcard will only depend on the existence (and quality)
of the Linux driver for that soundcard.
Check http://www.linux1394.org/ for the hardware compatibility of your
soundcard with the Linux firewire drivers.
