Yes, unfortunately you may be right :(
But I cannot stand W...zzzz anymore.
However the problem is somewhat tricky.
I try to summarise it:
- CPU and disk temperature is generaly high (45-50 degrees) and
it increses up to 60-62 degrees when under heavy load (e.g.
kernel compilation)
- this makes fan to work "almost" always, however:
- it stops sometimes
- it changes its speed according to CPU activity (I can
tell you from noise)
- /proc/acpi/fan/ is an empty directory
My conclusions:
- temperaure and fan speed are connected (directly bi BIOS or by
linux ACPI management? how to check it out?
- high temperature are unlikely related to reduced fan
functionality (-> design issue? Core 2 Duo is too demanding?)
augh
