I'm trying to view videos on a SMB share on another machine. After navigating to the share with Konqueror (using the smb:// url), I can right-click on any video and select "Open with..." and select a variety of players: noatun, kaboodle, kmplayer, VLC, xine, etc. However, none of them seem to work, except for VLC. Furthermore, VLC downloads the entire file to a tempfile before playing it, which seems an unnecessary delay.
try mount manually "mount -t smbfs //x.x.x.x/folder /folder"and then use "mplayer -cache 8192 file.avi" or something like that, if you try mplayer file.avi on a samba folder mplayer gives you the right parameter.
