Yes, I think this is strictly for Thinkpad. It says:
The following requires only ibm-acpi 
<http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ibm-acpi> 0.11 or higher...
Looking at the script, and comparing with what I have on my laptop, I 
saw that I do not have anything in
/proc/acpi/fan
