I have the same exact card, and have it working at 1280x800. Mi setup
IIRC included installing 915resolution and setting up
/etc/default/915resolution like this (comments stripped):
MODE=4d
XRESO=1280
YRESO=800
BIT=16
IIRC 1280x800 wasn't showing in 915resolution -l becouse the idea is
that you replace one of the modes (in my config the 4d mode) with the
1280x800 support. And looking at 915resolution -l |grep 4d seems that I
recall correctly:
Mode 4d : 1280x800, 16 bits/pixel
