Hello,
I have an Acer Aspire 3003 notebook with kernel 2.6.12-1-k7 on Sarge.
When I boot the Debian, the shell works fine. However, when I logoff X11
the Debian don't show the shell. The display remains black. If I press
Crtl Alt Del, the machine reboot and I return to shell.
Thanks for any help.

JEMF,
I've had a similar problem before. It was something to do with the graphical mode of Xorg and switching back to a text console. I solved my problem by using a framebuffer instead of the default 80x25 text mode. I was going to add the framebuffer to the console anyways, so I never looked any further than this. It just happend that I had configued Xorg before I set up the vesa framebuffer and noticed this effect.
