Sound with Neomagic on Omnibook900
I saw many thread about having or more not having sound on this machine.
Ideally I would like to get an Alsa configuration working under KDE3.3.2
but every time I run my alsaconf, I just find the nm256 from neomagic
and can't install any of my compiled in modules like cs4232 or sb8 as
recommended in other thread. I would like to start from scratch any
procedure which will work on those old Omnibook900 (not an 900B).
Here is what happen if I choose my nm256:
Building card database..
Running update-modules...
Loading driver...
FATAL: Module snd_pcm_oss not found.
WARNING: Error running install command for snd_pcm
FATAL: Error running install command for snd_nm256
Setting default volumes...
Saving the mixer setup used for this in /var/lib/alsa/asound.state.
/usr/sbin/alsactl: save_state:1061: No soundcards found...

Now ALSA is ready to use.
For adjustment of volumes, use your favorite mixer.

Using a Netinstall 2.6.8 many times recompiled...
Linux hp900 2.6.8jlcv29 #1 Sun Jan 30 14:54:19 CET 2005 i686 GNU/Linux
Self made but so far after > 29
> make-kpkg clean ; time make-kpkg --initrd kernel_image modules_image
still no success.
Please help me! Knowing that I'm some kind of newbies anyway.
