Thanks for that bit of advice. I take it to heart I assure you.
I spent the better part of a week trying to disentangle unstable 
from testing on my home workstation which now runs only testing. 
The joys of getting Japanese input working again...

<Lightbulb flashes> Thank you, saved my bacon. Funny how I had missed those
statements, thinking they were merely comments. Another lesson learnt!
