I have try to install Debian 3.1 GNU at a notebook build up by my own from different components. Windows XP is still running at it.
The booting starts well up to the window "Debconf Priority change", I choose "high". After "enter" the next window is "Generate Shell". After "enter" the DVD stops,
the screen displays
"BusyBox v1.00-pre 10(Debian 20040623-1) Built in shell (ash) ~#"
There is no reaction on commands.
Can it have to do with hardware problems?

Try pressing ALT-F1.  when you say generate shell, it gives a terminal.  However, it not working is mysterious.  Try when booting setup, to press ALT-F2.  It will give you the same terminal.  Try hitting enter, then see.  It seems you are doing an expert setup.  Try just typing linux, or linux26.
