How up to date is the Debian package for ndiswrapper?
I have never tried it - i have been using ndiswrapper-0.6, strait from
their site.

make && make install
ndiswrapper -i /path/to/bcmwl5.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper

and have had no trouble from there.
