I have run the command:
/usr/sbin/slmodemd --country=SPAIN /dev/modem
And now when I execute "pon", my syslog shows the fallowing output:

Does it means that my modem is running? Now I am not phisically plugged
into telephone line and mayby the abort messages are due that I am
umplugged. This night I will try to plug it and I will tell you something.
hummm . don't know .. i personnly use wwvdial and when i intalled the
debian package it configured evrything by itself.
but what i can see in your log means, IMO, that you didn't specify a
good/valid phone number ...
