Installation hangs

Hi,

Im trying to install Debian (Sarge) on my Acer 621 Laptop. Unfortunatly 
the installation hangs during hadrware detection with the message

DETECTING HARDWARE TO FIND CD-ROM DRIVES

Loading 'Yenta_Socket' for '02 Micro Inc. OZ6933 Cardbus Controller
************************************

Does anyone have an idea how I can get past this?
