Network info is in /etc/network/interfaces. I'm not sure
what driver you'd be using, I'd have thought it would have
loaded by itself. Maybe you need to install the package
'hotplug' (not sure, pcmcia is definitely not my specialty).

If you check out the permissions for /dev/dsp:
[yves@oban]:net$ ls -l /dev/dsp
crw-rw----  1 root audio 14, 3 Mar 14  2002 /dev/dsp

You can see that it belongs to user 'root', and also group
'audio'. By default normal users do not belong to this group
(to prevent just anyone playing sound). You simply need to
switch to super-user and add your username to the 'audio'
group:

su
adduser my_login_name audio

Next log-in should solve your problem (hopefully).
