apm suspend in sid

Hi,
i have IBM TP 570.
I had redhat 9.0 and the command 'apm -s' worked good, also when i closed the screen, the computer went on to suspend mode. After the upgrade to debian sid, this command don't work. When i open the screen after computer suspend, the screen is mess and i have to restart the computer.
I have compiled the kernel with apm and no acpi.
Now it don't work eather.
