Excellent. Yes, it seems to work correctly for me without the sleep statement.
Thanks all (Derek and Andrew).I still do not get any output in the /var/log/acpid for either the suspend or resume, but I just suspend with a script in /usr/local/bin, so you are right, it does not matter.
Perhaps I'll try turning on ACPI debug messages in the kernel to see if that gets me any messages. I'll let you know if I try it and it produces results.
