This problem is known sinc I use Debian SLINK (03/1999) ;-)

I have around 800 Floppies and from time to time if I 
have nothing to do, I do 'fdformat /dev/fd0u1680' and 
'mkfs.ext2 -c -b 1024 -m 0 /dev/fd0u1680'  :-)

If a Floppy has only one Error > /dev/garbage
