I'll just reiterate what I posted to the Dell forum.
The patch/workaround does look promising... but complains about not
detecting an 855 chipset when I run it... If anyone has the knowledge to
hack the driver so that it'll just allocate the RAM, it should work.
Reading through the docs, it seems that it should 'just work' with the
i810 module (which the I845 chipset also uses). Perhaps just disabling
the chipset detection would work?
If anyone is willing to, and capable of, hacking this package, I would
be glad to hear about it. I could post the patch to my Inspiron page at:
