Running 2.5.xx on a laptop?

I'm running Debian on my Tecra 8200. It's been suggested that 2.5.xx
might have better USB support for my shiny new Palm Trident.

Unfortunately, 2.5.6[34] with a fairly bare config just hangs silently
and hard after "Now booting linux kernel..."

Any thoughts?

                                        Be seeing you,
                                          norm
