For the Sony CD-reader (PCGA-CD51/A), the PCMCIA card does
NOT have any switch on it. Nor any such switch on the reader.

If I do 'cardctl ident' when the Sony CD-reader PCMCIA is
inserted I get:

: Socket 0:
: product info: " ", "NinjaATA-", "V1.0", "AP00 "

I _do_ have a HP CD-Writer (M820 series) where the PCMCIA card
DOES have such a switch. It was already set on CardBus.
When I insert the HP CD-Writer and do 'cardctl ident' I get:

: Socket 0:
: product info: "KME ", "SCSI-CARD-001", "1"
: manfid: 0x0032, 0x2604
: PCI id: 0x1145, 0xf007

and /var/log/syslog says when I insert this device

Feb 15 10:42:31 hypathia cardmgr[336]: unsupported card in socket 0
Feb 15 10:42:31 hypathia kernel: cs: cb_alloc(bus 2): vendor 0x1145, device 0xf007
Feb 15 10:42:31 hypathia cardmgr[336]: product info: "KME ", "SCSI-CARD-001", "1"
Feb 15 10:42:31 hypathia cardmgr[336]: manfid: 0x0032, 0x2604
Feb 15 10:42:31 hypathia cardmgr[336]: PCI id: 0x1145, 0xf007

But I do not have better luck with HP CD-Writer than I do
with the Sony CD-reader - both give me the same response
when I do 'mount /cdrom':

: mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device

I was trying to get the Sony CD-reader to work first, but
either would be acceptable.

I appreciate your help.

Blair
